Summary

So predictable and stereotypical。 Will make a good TV Movie but not much to read!

Overall, I think it was a pretty solid debut novel。 Although most things that happened were quite predictable, I still find it an enjoyable read。

Oh goodness, what can I say? Ironically, I was bored beyond belief for 97% of this book。 I didn’t care about the characters at all, and it’s so clear how the story will end that I found myself skimming huge chunks of it。 So much cringey and action-movie-esque dialogue, and (spoiler??) the pilot is supposedly on a live FaceTime call with his family’s captors mid-flight。 I have never heard of plane wifi that strong。 I would not recommend at all。

'Falling' was published 2021 and serves as the debut novel for T。J。 Newman。 Working as a flight attendant, Newman crafted the exoskeleton of the book's central idea out on cocktail napkins while on several redeye flights。 She readily admits in the acknowledgements that her work was turned down by forty-one agents before success was found on the forty-second, ultimately achieving a critical boom of praise from several big-time thriller authors and casual readers。 While the story of its developmen 'Falling' was published 2021 and serves as the debut novel for T。J。 Newman。 Working as a flight attendant, Newman crafted the exoskeleton of the book's central idea out on cocktail napkins while on several redeye flights。 She readily admits in the acknowledgements that her work was turned down by forty-one agents before success was found on the forty-second, ultimately achieving a critical boom of praise from several big-time thriller authors and casual readers。 While the story of its development is triumph, how is the book itself?⁣⁣'Falling' has a rather fantastical plot for the modern age, a work obsessed pilot finds himself in a deadly game of What-Would-You-Do? as his family is taken hostage in their home by a vigilante terrorist with a simple request, "crash the plane or I kill your family。" ⁣A Tom Clancy esque narrative that removes any unnecessary bulk and daunting militaristic jargon associated with that brand of storytelling, Newman delivers a 1980s action piece where Harrison Ford's gruff voice and calloused knuckles can almost be automatically substituted in。 Newman's personal experience with her former occupation makes for intimate character work while capturing the mutual relationship between isolationism within confinement and the forced communal build you have with strangers on a flight in peril。⁣⁣'Falling' definitely possesses some amateurish prose but, again, this is a first novel and Newman captures enough attention here to make a reader excited for a second publication。 Fiction that requires a stratospheric amount of suspension-of-disbelief, this bingeable read was fun but I essentially enjoyed the creation of the novel more than the actual tale itself。 ⁣ 。。。more

A bit of a strange book to choose to read before, during and after an airplane flight。 But it kept be intrigued as is shown by the 48 hour read。

Bernie

A fast-paced aerial thriller。 The author brings her experience as a flight attendant in to keep the realism。

Kerry

Huh。 I’m not the target audience for this one, but I kinda definitely knew that going in。 :) I don’t read a ton of commercial thrillers, but I think this one did what it set out to do。 Good pacing。 Lots of stuff happening。 POV shifts。 Plucky women and duty bound heroes and FBI agents that buck protocol。 It’ll make a solid summer action flick。 I’ll probably watch it stoned。

Finally sat down and read this book。 It did not disappoint one bit, I mean I literally could not put this book down。 The feel of this book was like one of the action films you see on TV。 I could see it playing out in my head and wondering what would happen next。 Just like a good film you are glued to it。 It was very realistic and a book where characters worked really well together。 They all fit and had their role in the story。 If you like suspense and fast-paced stories then this really is a boo Finally sat down and read this book。 It did not disappoint one bit, I mean I literally could not put this book down。 The feel of this book was like one of the action films you see on TV。 I could see it playing out in my head and wondering what would happen next。 Just like a good film you are glued to it。 It was very realistic and a book where characters worked really well together。 They all fit and had their role in the story。 If you like suspense and fast-paced stories then this really is a book worth checking out。 Just make sure you have time to spare as once you start it, you won't want to stop。 。。。more

This book isn’t the greatest piece of literature by any means, but nor does it pretend to be。 It was an easy read with a compelling storyline that kept me wanting to know more。 I like the fact that the writer used to be a flight attendant as it offers a unique insight into their perspective, however, there was a lot of aviation jargon which appeared to serve no purpose other than proving the writer knows about planes。It was also pretty clichéd at times, but overall it was a nice break from the u This book isn’t the greatest piece of literature by any means, but nor does it pretend to be。 It was an easy read with a compelling storyline that kept me wanting to know more。 I like the fact that the writer used to be a flight attendant as it offers a unique insight into their perspective, however, there was a lot of aviation jargon which appeared to serve no purpose other than proving the writer knows about planes。It was also pretty clichéd at times, but overall it was a nice break from the usual heavier material。 。。。more

10/10 highly recommend!I was on the edge of my seat, and I was gripped the whole time。 Yes, sometimes it was predictable, but it was still a good ride! It had great twists, the storytelling was fantastic, the flashbacks weren't annoying, and the characters actually had a lot of depth。 Overall, I loved this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoyed The Chain。 10/10 highly recommend!I was on the edge of my seat, and I was gripped the whole time。 Yes, sometimes it was predictable, but it was still a good ride!
