Great recipes! Many are quite easy, Some of the ingredients I never heard (maybe a different name in UK), I think some ingredients may be difficult to find as well, BUT most recipes are quite easy and look delicious! Great way to get more veggies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never read a Jamie Oliver cookbook before or seen any of his TV series so I was surprised just how much I enjoyed this book。 I received this as a birthday present which was such a treat as it's a definite favourite and benefits the givers who live in the same house, so it's an all round success!I've tried several of these recipes and there are so many I can't wait to try。 Each double page spread has a recipe on one side and a photo of the finished product on the other。 This is exactly what I've never read a Jamie Oliver cookbook before or seen any of his TV series so I was surprised just how much I enjoyed this book。 I received this as a birthday present which was such a treat as it's a definite favourite and benefits the givers who live in the same house, so it's an all round success!I've tried several of these recipes and there are so many I can't wait to try。 Each double page spread has a recipe on one side and a photo of the finished product on the other。 This is exactly what I want from a cookbook。 The end results are always really beautiful, this is such an appetizing looking collection。I love that this book isn't aimed at vegans or vegetarians, just great looking good that hopefully will get people who eat meat to discover there is some amazing food to be created without it。 I love to think that books like this could encourage people to have a meat free night or even enjoy some vegan food。There's a really good range of recipes and some original ideas。 As someone who reads loads of cookbooks, I can definitely say this has many new ideas in。 I would happily try all of the recipes in this book。There are plenty of seasonal recipes。 There's a recipe for vegan butternut squash gnocchi which I'm really looking forward to trying later this year (and thanks to you Lisa I will be using the safe method of butternut squash preparation!) There is a tomato curry recipe which I also cannot wait to try with home grown produce。 So many more look amazingly appetizing!I tried the mushroom stroganoff which was delicious。 I have never used a flambe method before, it does warn you to watch your eyebrows, it would have been more accurate to tell you to watch your ceiling but it was good fun and the result was delicious。 I loved a pasta salad recipe that uses a pesto made from basil and parsley, wouldn't have thought of using parsley but it made a delicious change。 The black bean burgers were really simple and very good。 The moussaka was tasty and worked well even though this recipe uses egg and I left that out。 Lots of great little tips, information and ideas。 Highly recommended to everyone! 。。。more

Time Consuming I love Jamie Oliver。 Great chef, fun to watch。 Honestly, who has time for these dishes? Lots of amazing ideas but even the smoothie bowl takes 25 min and a fritatta takes 2。5 hours???

This may be my favourite cookbook, all the recipes I’ve tried are interesting & delicious。 It’s so good to have so many vegetarian recipes that doesn’t leave you feeling deprived。 Highly recommend!

People don't all need the same cookbook。 This wasn't the one for me。 Which would be fine, except that the author claims in the iomntroduction that these are everyday recipes, but I scarcely found any that didn't include at least one ingredient I don't have handy。 And in many cases, some ingredients would be hard to find locally。 To test this impression, I opened the book randomly and checked out ten recipes。 The book's layout is very handy, with each recipe a two-page spread, making my little ex People don't all need the same cookbook。 This wasn't the one for me。 Which would be fine, except that the author claims in the iomntroduction that these are everyday recipes, but I scarcely found any that didn't include at least one ingredient I don't have handy。 And in many cases, some ingredients would be hard to find locally。 To test this impression, I opened the book randomly and checked out ten recipes。 The book's layout is very handy, with each recipe a two-page spread, making my little experiment easy to perform。 For each randomly selected recipe, I wrote down one ingredient I don't own。 (Sometimes there was more than one, but I pulled a Mae West and chose the one I hadn't tried yet。) The results:1) Fresh mint: I could grow this, or find it in pricey packages at certain stores。2) Fava beans: No idea where I would buy these, though I suppose given enough time I could grow them。3) Mango chutney: This would probably need a trip to a specialty store on the other side of town。4) Tamarind paste: Maybe available in the international aisle of the grocery store? Or maybe not 。。。5) Fresh rosemary: Available at my local co-op, though not cheap。6) Nothing! There was actually one recipe for which I have all the ingredients in my pantry。7) Blue cheese: Probably not hard to find, just not something I have sitting around。 Now that I think of it, I don't remember ever seeing it aroud the supermarket, but then again, I've never looked。8) Self-rising flour: Convenience items like this are sometimes included。 I'm sure it's possible to substitute, but I wonder why things like this would be the default。9) Buckwheat flour: The co-op would have this for sure。 Probably the supermarket too, with the Bob's Red Mill stuff。10)Ras el hanout: Whaaa??? I have no clue what this even is。These may be great recipes, but with so many unusual ingredients, they don't look to me like everyday fare。 People who are more into the foodie culture may have tamarind paste and buckwheat flour sitting around, but in my eyes, recipes that use such ingredients aren't everyday fare。 Personally, I'll buy odd items to make a special recipe, but these are not eveyday recipes for someone like me。 。。。more

Beautiful pictures but recipes required more meal planning to supplement for the lack of protein。 Make sure to add more salt and seasoning!

Way too many of the recipes take over an hour to cook。

A solid 3。5。 I love Jamie Oliver's recipes, though I'll need to revisit this recipe book when I have a bit more time in the kitchen to experiment。 I got a few gems out of this that I'm excited to try。 A solid 3。5。 I love Jamie Oliver's recipes, though I'll need to revisit this recipe book when I have a bit more time in the kitchen to experiment。 I got a few gems out of this that I'm excited to try。 。。。more

I've tried seven recipes in total from this book。 They were all a lot of effort (most upwards of 2 hours!), required expensive ingredients and hefty quantities of veg (the tagine required 2。5kg of mixed veg), usually stated too much liquid as one of the ingredients which made the recipe too wet (too much stock in the burns night stew, too much milk in the moussaka)。 Whilst some of them were tasty in the end, the disproportionate amount of time to produce them, plus the guesswork and tweaking inv I've tried seven recipes in total from this book。 They were all a lot of effort (most upwards of 2 hours!), required expensive ingredients and hefty quantities of veg (the tagine required 2。5kg of mixed veg), usually stated too much liquid as one of the ingredients which made the recipe too wet (too much stock in the burns night stew, too much milk in the moussaka)。 Whilst some of them were tasty in the end, the disproportionate amount of time to produce them, plus the guesswork and tweaking involved to get the recipe right just didn't make it worth the effort。 I didn't bother trying any of the other recipes in the book and have now bought a different veg cookbook to try instead。 。。。more

So, this is a nice recipe book with photos for each recipe。 And the vegetarian options look wonderful。 I'm just not sure I'm up to a 1。5 hour+ cooking time for all of these recipes。 I looked at them and tried to find one that would be easy to do with what I have on hand in my home - and I have a pretty well-stocked pantry - and there were very few that I could just pull together without a lot of advanced planning and some specialty store shopping。 That makes it a bit off putting in my view, beca So, this is a nice recipe book with photos for each recipe。 And the vegetarian options look wonderful。 I'm just not sure I'm up to a 1。5 hour+ cooking time for all of these recipes。 I looked at them and tried to find one that would be easy to do with what I have on hand in my home - and I have a pretty well-stocked pantry - and there were very few that I could just pull together without a lot of advanced planning and some specialty store shopping。 That makes it a bit off putting in my view, because if I'm going to try out a recipe to see if it's good, I'm not really interested in spending money on something that I may never use for any other recipe。 Add in the fact that some of the recipes that interested me the most were 4+ hours and involved multiple stages and cooking tactics, and I decided that there wasn't any point keeping this book checked out of the library longer so that I could test run a recipe。 I'm sure they're good。 I'm sure they'll turn out well。 But I just don't have it in me at the end of a day, even a day off, to spend that much time cooking。 I'm not a professional chef。 I do like to cook, but there are limits even for me。 。。。more

Oliver knows how to make great cookbooks。 This book devoted to vegetables includes a selection of recipes and a picture accompanying every recipe, the best way to design a cookbook。 It is straightforward and simple and easy to follow。

The written guidance for the recipes are not as clear as his other books and sometimes don’t make sense, need improvisation or miss out ingredients。 It doesn’t feel like it’s as thought through as normal for JO

3。5 stars - The tag line on this cookbook is, “easy and delicious meals for everyone。” I picked it up because I am looking for more ways to eat and cook with vegetables。 This is a beautiful book, with gorgeous, colorful photos and a nice layout。 Recipes are creative and even unusual, but there are many in here that seem accessible to the average home cook。 Many, but not all—I would say that this book isn’t actually “for everyone” because it tends toward a variety of spices and accompaniments tha 3。5 stars - The tag line on this cookbook is, “easy and delicious meals for everyone。” I picked it up because I am looking for more ways to eat and cook with vegetables。 This is a beautiful book, with gorgeous, colorful photos and a nice layout。 Recipes are creative and even unusual, but there are many in here that seem accessible to the average home cook。 Many, but not all—I would say that this book isn’t actually “for everyone” because it tends toward a variety of spices and accompaniments that may require a special shopping trip to acquire。 (One recipe calls for saffron, curry leaves, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, and mango chutney。” Granted, it is curry, after all。) I saved several recipes to try, however, and I appreciate the effort to bring creativity and vegetable-forward dishes to the masses。 Compare this to “Vegetables Unleashed,” for example, and this collection is vastly more practical and complete。 。。。more

33/55 books read in 2020。Like the rating says: it was ok。 I feel a bit disappointed because I have a couple of Jamie's books that I actually really enjoy (for example Jamie's 30-Minute Meals, Save with Jamie, and Jamie's 15 Minute Meals) and some of the dishes from those books have made it into the regular rotation of foods we eat, but this book just disappointed me。 The dishes we did try were bland and not spectacular enough to warrant the time and effort to make them。 I have a couple more phot 33/55 books read in 2020。Like the rating says: it was ok。 I feel a bit disappointed because I have a couple of Jamie's books that I actually really enjoy (for example Jamie's 30-Minute Meals, Save with Jamie, and Jamie's 15 Minute Meals) and some of the dishes from those books have made it into the regular rotation of foods we eat, but this book just disappointed me。 The dishes we did try were bland and not spectacular enough to warrant the time and effort to make them。 I have a couple more photocopied to try, but I'm not really excited about it so that says enough。So if you come across this: flip through it before buying。And really I would recommend lending it from the library before spending your money on it。 。。。more

Some really good recipes in here and great supplement to his series。 Some of the ingredients he has aren't usually found in every supermarket, such as small towns, though, so one might have to find a supplemental or a store online that would ship to your house。 Some really good recipes in here and great supplement to his series。 Some of the ingredients he has aren't usually found in every supermarket, such as small towns, though, so one might have to find a supplemental or a store online that would ship to your house。 。。。more

Feel like I'm parachuting in from an alternate universe into this review section。 There are a number of serious omissions and errors in this book that make many of the recipes unusable (basic ingredients missing from katsu curry, steps (and possibly ingredients) missing from the falafel method etc)。 Also, the book is very lazy with flavours and overly dependent on dairy to deliver them。 No flare, no innovation here。 Feel like I'm parachuting in from an alternate universe into this review section。 There are a number of serious omissions and errors in this book that make many of the recipes unusable (basic ingredients missing from katsu curry, steps (and possibly ingredients) missing from the falafel method etc)。 Also, the book is very lazy with flavours and overly dependent on dairy to deliver them。 No flare, no innovation here。 。。。more

Simple recipes with a typical recipe in this book having around 8-10 ingredients (apparent from the curry recipes included)。 The only thing I will say against it is that some of the recipes are written just a little bit weird; I was confused on the wording of the instructions, where it felt like it was missing a step or two。 I will be trying out a couple of the recipes that I am more familiar with (pasta), before I go off on the more adventurous side of the recipes。 At the end of this book, ther Simple recipes with a typical recipe in this book having around 8-10 ingredients (apparent from the curry recipes included)。 The only thing I will say against it is that some of the recipes are written just a little bit weird; I was confused on the wording of the instructions, where it felt like it was missing a step or two。 I will be trying out a couple of the recipes that I am more familiar with (pasta), before I go off on the more adventurous side of the recipes。 At the end of this book, there is a really good section about basic nutrition and substitution guides for beginners like myself。 。。。more
