Review in English， Español， and 普通话 The Study of Language by George Yule is a fantastic beginner guide for someone taking linguistics classes or who loves to learn about languages and linguistics。 This book centers around the central topics in the area of linguistics and dives into each branch。 For example， one may find they are more inclined to sociolinguistics than the historical linguistics area。 The book is perfect for readers thinking about diving into a specific area of linguistics or wan Review in English， Español， and 普通话 The Study of Language by George Yule is a fantastic beginner guide for someone taking linguistics classes or who loves to learn about languages and linguistics。 This book centers around the central topics in the area of linguistics and dives into each branch。 For example， one may find they are more inclined to sociolinguistics than the historical linguistics area。 The book is perfect for readers thinking about diving into a specific area of linguistics or want to have a small book to keep on their bookshelf as a reference guide。 The details of it make it a perfect manual to have in order to refresh readers that have extensive knowledge of linguistics， especially when they find their skill area。 I have the third edition listed here as well as the sixth edition （ISBN: 978-1-316-60675-9）。 I include this as the third edition is a well-written guide; از یکی از دوستان توی گودریدز خواستم یه کتاب برای شروع زبان‌شناسی بهم معرفی کنه و این رو بهم معرفی کرد。 دومین کتابی‌یه که به زبون انگلیسی خوندم و خوش‌بختانه نثرش برام ساده بود。 کتاب به‌طور مختصر درباره‌ی شاخه‌های مختلف زبان‌شناسی حرف می‌زنه（البته مطمئن نیستم از تمام شاخه‌ها حرف زده باشه。）。 آخر هرفصل هم تمرینات و رفرنس‌های مختلفی از همون فصل می‌آره。فکر می‌کنم برای شروع و زمینه‌سازی و این‌که بفهمید چه شاخه‌ای چه جذابیت‌هایی براتون داره خیلی مناسب باشه。

كتاب مفيد جداً للمبتدئين في مجال اللسانيات 。。。 الكتاب بسيط وغير معقد ومع ذلك يعد ذو قيمة علمية عالية في مجاله 。。。 وترجمة الدكتور حمزة المزيني كانت جيدة رغم استخدام مصطلحات غير متعارفة في كتب اللسانيات العربية وهذا ما قد يحدث تشتيتاً للقارئ 。。。 فمثلاً مصطلح pragmatics الذي يعرف في اللغة العربية ب（التداولية） أو （التداوليات） يترجمه الدكتور المزيني بلفظة （الذريعيات） وهو مصطلح أقل شيوعاً ، عدا ذلك فالترجمة مقبولة。

واقعا این کتاب همونجور که ادعا داره برای مخاطب تازه‌وارد به حوزه زبان‌شناسی نوشته شده و اگه مطلقا اطلاعاتی در مورد زبان‌شناسی ندارید، می‌تونه قدم اول خوبی باشه براتون。کتاب فصل فصله و در انتهای هر فصل تعدادی سوال برای بحث بیشتر و تعدادی تمرین قرار داده شده که می‌تونید با انجام دادنشون درکتون از فصل رو بسنجید و عمق بدید بهش。البته بهتون توصیه می‌کنم به همین کتاب بسنده نکنید و آثار دیگه‌ای رو بعدا بخونید حتما اما اگه قصد شروع دارید می‌تونه شروع خوبی باشه。
