Picking up where book 4 left off, Flanagan continues the story of Maddie and Will on their latest adventure, discovered by their host at the Chateau des Falaises in their rescue attempt of Prince Giles, and now held prisoner。 Things look somewhat bleak, but as usual the Rangers apply their common sense, superior strategic skills, and physical prowess to turn a bad situation to their favor。 Horace and Halt make an appearance and Flanagan includes several well-written fight scenes。 Another great r Picking up where book 4 left off, Flanagan continues the story of Maddie and Will on their latest adventure, discovered by their host at the Chateau des Falaises in their rescue attempt of Prince Giles, and now held prisoner。 Things look somewhat bleak, but as usual the Rangers apply their common sense, superior strategic skills, and physical prowess to turn a bad situation to their favor。 Horace and Halt make an appearance and Flanagan includes several well-written fight scenes。 Another great read, over too soon。 Upper elementary for good readers, teen, adult。 。。。more

More of a 3。5。

Admittedly fan girl extreme for all these John Flanagan Ranger stories and spin-offs。 I had to read this one right after the “I’ll just publish half the story” cliffhanger ending from The Missing Prince (book 4 in this Royal Ranger series)。 I’m so glad I didn’t have to wait wait wait - I’d have gone mad wondering what was happening with Will and Maddy。

Good stuff。 Battles, captures, escapes, rescues… Horace, will and halt back together :) + Maddie for youth, femaleness and sass。 A little formulaic, but comfort in the predictions。Rating: pg for adventure, violenceRecommend: 5th and up。

Great YA novel。 I enjoyed revisiting these characters。 However, sometimes I feel he has some passages he includes in every book which can be tedious。

[first-time read] 4/5 starsthis book was amazing until the end, which felt a little (or very) rushed, but the first two acts made up for it by giving us a satisfying conclusion to trr #4 and an exciting plot with fun action scenes。 however, the big plot twist hinted at in the beginning was disappointing--it was someone who we had little interaction with--and someone i did not remember from trr #4。 granted, i did read trr #4 a few months ago, so that may be why i don't remember this person。 escap [first-time read] 4/5 starsthis book was amazing until the end, which felt a little (or very) rushed, but the first two acts made up for it by giving us a satisfying conclusion to trr #4 and an exciting plot with fun action scenes。 however, the big plot twist hinted at in the beginning was disappointing--it was someone who we had little interaction with--and someone i did not remember from trr #4。 granted, i did read trr #4 a few months ago, so that may be why i don't remember this person。 escape from falaise does have a few plot issues where characters have too easy of a time figuring things out, but it's not so egregious that it becomes unbearable。 i wish that we had more dialogue between the main group; hopefully we have more interaction between characters in trr #6。 all in all, trr #5 was a satisfying conclusion to the prince giles plot, and one of trr's better books。 。。。more

FantasticI have read all of the Ranger series and have never been disappointed。 The humor is the best part among these wonderful characters!

What an incredible smell you've discovered!" (That's a Star Wars reference。) Horace fights Lassigny, killing him。 They reunite Prince Giles with his father, King Philippe。 And the identity of the person who sold out Will and Maddie is revealed。 It was King Philippe's brother and Prince Giles' uncle, Prince Louis。 It was pretty easy to figure that one out。 I mean, whenever you have a piece of media featuring a young Prince who is next in line to the Throne, you can be sure that his uncle is up to no good。 The Lion King taught me that。 Prince Louis is scheduled for execution。 In the end, Will, Maddie, Halt and Horace begin the journey back to Araluen。 All in all, Escape from Falaise was a fine entry in the Ranger's Apprentice: The Royal Ranger series。 。。。more

The story itself is good。 If you enjoyed others in the series you will enjoy book 4 & 5。 The problem I have is that they are not books 4 & 5, they are book 4 part 1 and book 4 part 2。 Clearly split in order to maximize profits from a popular author when the story itself did not need to be split into two smaller books selling each for price of a regular book。

Super leuk! Het was super spannend, ik kon niet stoppen met lezen。

Completely forgot to update that I was listening to this and then finished it。 I am glad to be caught up with this series before the next one comes out this fall。 Truthfully。。。。this is my least favorite of the 3 series in this world。 It feels repetitive and tired。 While there are still elements I enjoy, I think I'm just burned out on this world and writing style-it was a lot of MG in a short period of time (I listened to all the Brotherband Chronicles and then this within about 3 months)。 Completely forgot to update that I was listening to this and then finished it。 I am glad to be caught up with this series before the next one comes out this fall。 Truthfully。。。。this is my least favorite of the 3 series in this world。 It feels repetitive and tired。 While there are still elements I enjoy, I think I'm just burned out on this world and writing style-it was a lot of MG in a short period of time (I listened to all the Brotherband Chronicles and then this within about 3 months)。 。。。more

Vanzelfsprekend komt alles weer op zijn pootjes terecht。 Ze blijven leuk en spannend, maar worden wel wat voorspelbaar。

Ok ending to for setup made in previous book, but it lacked freshness and surprises。

The continuation of The Missing PrinceWill and Mady had been trying to rescue a prince who had been kidnapped but things went terribly wrong and they were captured。 Now they are trying to free themselves and also still rescue the prince。Action, adventure, intrigue。 Great middle school read。

Another great adventure with the Ranger Corps。 The descriptions got a little repetitive in places, but how can you write so prolifically without a bit of recycling? Still a good read。

Jill Romack

Just as much fun as these books were a decade ago when I started reading them!

Nathan

It was really good
