Summary

When young adventurer Laios and his company are attacked and soundly thrashed by a dragon deep in a dungeon, the party loses all its money and provisions。。。and a member! They're eager to go back and save her, but there is just one problem: If they set out with no food or coin to speak of, they're sure to starve on the way! But Laios comes up with a brilliant idea: "Let's eat the monsters!" Slimes, basilisks, and even dragons。。。none are safe from the appetites of these dungeon-crawling gourmands!

Very enjoyable series! It reminds me of my own DnD party in the absolute best way。 The story is serious but the character interactions are often comical。 It's a very good combination in my opinion and I'm looking forward to read the rest。 Very enjoyable series! A coworker really liked this series (and I needed "a book about food" for summer reading so I gave it a try! I think we just have very different taste in books XD The cooking sequences are cool but I'm not into D&D enough to really get into the premise。 A coworker really liked this series (and I needed "a book about food" for summer reading so I gave it a try! Laios, Marcille, Chilchuck, and Falin are exploring a dungeon when they come across a red dragon, and Falin gets eaten。 Adventuring is expensive and they need to evolve their tactics for exploring, especially so they can rescue Falin before she gets digested。 So。。。 Laios has the idea to prepare dishes to eat made from dungeon monsters and plants。 To help them, they recruit Senshi, a dwarf with much knowledge for the cooking of these kinds of dishes。 And thus we have the setup for this Manga。 A v Laios, Marcille, Chilchuck, and Falin are exploring a dungeon when they come across a red dragon, and Falin gets eaten。 Adventuring is expensive and they need to evolve their tactics for exploring, especially so they can rescue Falin before she gets digested。 So。。。 Laios has the idea to prepare dishes to eat made from dungeon monsters and plants。 To help them, they recruit Senshi, a dwarf with much knowledge for the cooking of these kinds of dishes。 And thus we have the setup for this Manga。 A very unique idea, mixing the food manga and the dungeon manga, but it works, and with lots of humor。Looking forward to the next Volume。Recipes this time: Huge Scorpion and Walking Mushroom Hot Pot, Man-Eating Plant Tart, Roast Basilisk, Mandrake and Basilisk Omelet, Mandrake Kakiage and Big Bat Tempura, and 4 dishes made from the mollusks in Living Armor。 。。。more

I enjoyed this。 If I’m ever on a dungeon crawl, I now feel confident that I can kill and cook the monsters I would find 😁

A very fun, Dungeons & Dragons-esque off-beat adventure story。 The creatures and cooking are clever and the author manages to make what could be very formulaic and predictable feel fresh and unique。 The illustrations are also nicely detailed and humorous。

Made me squeamish, but also hungry

4/5 StarsNot a lot happens plot-wise, but this was still pretty funny! I liked when Senshi would step by step explain how to cook monsters, the art was so nice!!

Truyện đánh quái thăng cấp khác: Chiến đấu liên tục, lên level liên tục。Dungeon Meshi: Ăn liên tục, nghĩ cách chế biến món mới liên tục。Bảo sao mọi người nói bộ này dị。Cơ mà art thú vị phết, kiểu như xem truyện cổ tích châu âu vậy。

This was super cute and funny, especially for folks familiar with dungeon crawl media, like roleplaying or video games。The characters are interesting and fun。 I enjoyed the surprises about the dungeon monsters。

Jasper Edwards

This was surprisingly good。 The book makes me want to play a chef in D&D。

Kenny

A fun story about surviving in the dungeon with a surprising amount of heart and humor

I couldn’t stop reading this volume once I started! I was attracted to the series due to its beautiful art and illustrations, but quickly fell in love with the story and characters。 I also appreciated the translations - it seems pretty faithful to its original language and I enjoyed that they left in the sound effects for both languages in each panel。 I already can’t wait to get the next volume!

A refreshing take on the dungeon crawler genre!

Got this one for the kiddos who love Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) for my middle school manga madness unit and the kids who love D&D loved it。 I feel like this would be a campaign that a bunch of chefs put together and had their two chef buddies be the main characters。 A unique spin on D&D in which the characters go through the dungeon and kill and cook the monsters they encounter。 The recipes are unique and the characters are fun。 Good reviews from the middles。 Recommended for anyone who loves: D& Got this one for the kiddos who love Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) for my middle school manga madness unit and the kids who love D&D loved it。 I feel like this would be a campaign that a bunch of chefs put together and had their two chef buddies be the main characters。 A unique spin on D&D in which the characters go through the dungeon and kill and cook the monsters they encounter。 The recipes are unique and the characters are fun。 Good reviews from the middles。 Recommended for anyone who loves: D&D and books with cooking and/or recipes in them。 。。。more

Presentation is important。 Sure, story and writing are of the utmost importance as well as art in graphical works, but presentation pulls it all together。 One little thing nagged at me throughout this entire read。 Every sound effect is kept in its original Japanese, then it's phonetically translated, and then finally translated into English。 Too much visual noise。Otherwise this book has a neat concept but is otherwise pretty average。 Imagine if you will a world that functions like a traditional Presentation is important。 Sure, story and writing are of the utmost importance as well as art in graphical works, but presentation pulls it all together。 One little thing nagged at me throughout this entire read。 Every sound effect is kept in its original Japanese, then it's phonetically translated, and then finally translated into English。 Too much visual noise。Otherwise this book has a neat concept but is otherwise pretty average。 Imagine if you will a world that functions like a traditional RPG。 Party of adventurers in a sprawling dungeon, complete with the ability to die and be resurrected。 The neat concept? The adventurers decide that dragging food with them through the depths of the dungeon was too expensive, so they are attempting to eat the monsters and vegetation (and monster vegetation) along the way。 But it's kind of boring。 There's usually a focus on one new dish per chapter, and it's a heavy focus。 Not enough story or character for me。 I bet that changes in later volumes, but I'm not reading them。 。。。more

A novel and fun idea。 The art, especially coming off Punpun feels really really rough。

2022 Read A Graphic Novel Every Week Challenge - 7/52I read this while hungry。 I thought it would be ok to read it while hungry because I have never in my D&D (and other games) playing career thought for more than a second or two about what the monsters might taste like。 I thought it would be ok to read it while hungry because some of it is about the interactions between the characters and the chaotic energy they all have。 I thought it would be ok to read it while hungry。。。Reader, it was not ok。 2022 Read A Graphic Novel Every Week Challenge - 7/52I read this while hungry。 I thought it would be ok to read it while hungry because I have never in my D&D (and other games) playing career thought for more than a second or two about what the monsters might taste like。 I thought it would be ok to read it while hungry because some of it is about the interactions between the characters and the chaotic energy they all have。 I thought it would be ok to read it while hungry。。。Reader, it was not ok。 I was SO HUNGRY by the end of it that I too would have tried eating the weird animated armour molluscs they encounter towards the end。 WHY DOES ALL THE FOOD LOOK SO GOOD??? Why does this book have so much talk about the importance of a healthy balanced diet which recognises that food is delicious and that we need balance not cutting out food groups? Why did the recipes look so good!?!?!I will read more volumes, but you can bet I will be eating first。 。。。more
