It never ceases to amaze me how beautifully ATLA/LoK handles difficult and complex themes。 This carries on so seamlessly from the show, everything was perfect。Also Uncle Iroh invented boba tea which is pretty rad。

I had the best time ever reading the first one of the graphic novels and can‘t wait to pick-up The Search。 The notes on the sides distracted me at first, but U enjoyed having some details about the creative process and how everything came together。 The whole Avatar stories have so many layers and contain so many lessons you can learn from。 It always shows me a how much we should concentrate on our deep connection with ourselves but also with others。 Truly wonderful。

I loved watching the TV series and I'm glad to get to see these characters again。 I like that the events of these books are after the ending of the show, and we get to see the aftermath and new adventures instead of just re-hashing the shows events。 I like that they still encapsulate the characters' personalities in these books so they feel familiar, and they are still dealing with real/hard issues and the ideas of right/wrong and not everything is black & white。 They do a good job of taking an I loved watching the TV series and I'm glad to get to see these characters again。 I like that the events of these books are after the ending of the show, and we get to see the aftermath and new adventures instead of just re-hashing the shows events。 I like that they still encapsulate the characters' personalities in these books so they feel familiar, and they are still dealing with real/hard issues and the ideas of right/wrong and not everything is black & white。 They do a good job of taking an issue, in this case whether or not to dismantle a colony from the past war and they explore both sides/points of view and we see characters struggle with this idea of gray areas。Would recommend?Yes, especially if you were a fan of the show。 。。。more

3。5 Stars, what I really like about this story was the idea of the conflict post "the hundred year war" no more Fire Nation Colonies in the Earth kingdom but the people really got to live in peace with the mix of citizens。 Shall we separate families in order to keep harmony between Nations or let them be the same way they used to live??。 The Promise was very interesting, however if you see The legend of Korra is very obvious how it would end。 3。5 Stars, what I really like about this story was the idea of the conflict post "the hundred year war" no more Fire Nation Colonies in the Earth kingdom but the people really got to live in peace with the mix of citizens。 Shall we separate families in order to keep harmony between Nations or let them be the same way they used to live??。 The Promise was very interesting, however if you see The legend of Korra is very obvious how it would end。 。。。more

Aang and Katara calling each other sweetie is so annoying lmao

This picks up right where the show ends。 We get to see Team Avatar deal with political issues and how different ideologies change dynamics between them。 I love these characters and I actually laughed out loud a few times。 On to part 2。。。

Reading this made me miss the world of A:TLA, but in a good way! I could easily hear the voices of all the beloved characters。

The final episode of ATLA had some tidbits that made me say, “oh wow, what’s gonna happen next?”so when I found out the story was continued in graphic novels (one of my favorite mediums) I was eager to read。 This is a short volume, but there’s a lot here and I’m so ready to read these books。 (Also, that ending??????!????!??!!!?????)

Lauren

Sweetie。 While I’m a Katara and Aang fan for sure seeing them say sweetie to each other was somewhat awkward。 But it reads just like an episode! I will say reading it on my kindle is definitely very hard so I recommend reading it physically rather than on an Ereader。 Definitely fun for fans of the show!

This ends right where the series left off。 I loved it, although I wish it was longer。 It left on a cliffhanger- which means I'm reading part 2 ASAP! You know how Avatar is one of the greatest shows ever made because it teaches kids about so many difficult things in our world all while being incredibly funny and entertaining? Well these comics pick up right where the tv show left off and they continue to do just that (and more。) you see the characters struggle with their decisions in such hard ways all while remaining light and funny。 PS: I am SO excited to read the next book because I am dying to know what happened to Zuko’s mom。

5 Stars for Uncle Iroh inventing Boba Tea

This comic was fantastic! The way it handles the concept of colonisation and reparations in a post-war world is handled exactly with the nuance you'd expect the creators of Avatar to possess。 Yu Dao is fascinating in its blend with Fire Nation citizens and Earth Kingdom citizens, plus the way the writers insert humour through intercultural relationships is great and serves as a relief to the tension mounting of a second war between the two countries。The Gaang's relationship as always is a pleasu This comic was fantastic! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 It was just alright。 Honestly, this one can be skipped if you don't feel like reading it。 All you really need to know is that Zuko asks Aang to kill him if Zuko starts being like his father, Zuko goes to see Ozai because he has doubts about his ability to be Fire Lord, Aang has doubts about being able to kill his friend, Aang doesn't think the nations need to be completely separate anymore, and at the end Zuko asks Azula to help find their mother and Aang I guess decides he's not going to speak It was just alright。 Honestly, this one can be skipped if you don't feel like reading it。 All you really need to know is that Zuko asks Aang to kill him if Zuko starts being like his father, Zuko goes to see Ozai because he has doubts about his ability to be Fire Lord, Aang has doubts about being able to kill his friend, Aang doesn't think the nations need to be completely separate anymore, and at the end Zuko asks Azula to help find their mother and Aang I guess decides he's not going to speak with Roku anymore because Roku wanted him to kill Zuko。 Oh, and I guess it's worth knowing that Toph starts a metalbending school。 Nothing really happens with Katara and Sokka in this one。 Also, I just kept wondering the whole time why the Fire nation colonies didn't just officially become a part of the Earth Kingdom。 It didn't make sense to be that the only solutions they could think of were to make everyone return to the Fire nation or remain colonies of the Fire nation。 。。。more
