I get confused from time to time but I liked the story in general。 Maybe I read too fast and missed some points。 I like reading sci-fi and I believe Wells is good at it。 I'd like to learn more about Eloi。 I'd like to see the depth of their characters。 See them as humans rather than livestocks, you know? Known as the father of science fiction, HG Wells wrote 'The Time Machine' back in 1895! He is widely credited for popularising the concept of time travel。 The first half of his story focuses on the invention of the time travelling machine。 The second half delves into the time traveller's adventure to a bleak, dystopian future where the human race has devolved into two separate species。 Known as the father of science fiction, HG Wells wrote 'The Time Machine' back in 1895!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 So the only H。G。 Wells book I ever tried to read was war of the worlds and I just cant push my way through the text。 I certainly did not feel that way with Time Machine。 I loved the framework of the time traveler revealing this story if his most recent travels, and with it ending in doubt as to what became of him。 Overall just a real fun read!

I am happily surprised to like this book。 I have been reading classic books I have never read, and until Time Machine I have been extremely bored with them。 But this was interesting。 I just wish there was more。

I was surprised how short this was when I stumbled across a copy in a little free library。 How have I not read this before? The Victorian setting/language and writing style definitely made me feel like I was reading a ninth grade English assignment, but doing so at my own will made it far more pleasurable! I even wished I had class discussions to talk about it because there were so many thought provoking ideas about humans and society。I'm not sure how I feel about the first person narrator NOT be I was surprised how short this was when I stumbled across a copy in a little free library。 How have I not read this before? The Victorian setting/language and writing style definitely made me feel like I was reading a ninth grade English assignment, but doing so at my own will made it far more pleasurable! Supposedly an 'early scifi novel'。A scientist explains his journeys to the future, year 802701, to his dinner party group of friends。 He describes the relationship between the 'Eloi's and the 'Morlock's and their competitive nature。 He also develops a sincere, loving relationship for one of the young Elois, Weena。(Read for EN3DD) Supposedly an 'early scifi novel'。A scientist explains his journeys to the future, year 802701, to his dinner party group of friends。 He describes the relationship between the 'Eloi's and the 'Morlock's and their competitive nature。 He also develops a sincere, loving relationship for one of the young Elois, Weena。(Read for EN3DD) 。。。more

Time travel is one of my favorite genres but it has certainly improved since the inception。

My first classic read in a very long time, I did enjoy it and Wells did a good job at creating this story of time travel and science fiction。 I recommend doing the audiobook, as it helped me to connect to the story more。

If you had a time machine, where is the first place you’d go? I can think of a lot of times I’d want to check out。 Not sure if 800,000 years into the future would be my first choice。 This is certainly an interesting take on the future。 I’m hoping the sequel dives deeper into the world of the giant crab monsters。

I had read this book in my teens and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread but upon reading it again in my fifties I found it a little underwhelming。 It is a good story but I found myself wandering off a little。 Never the less it is a good story about a Victoria time traveller who finds himself in the far future earth and finds that humanity has not evolved as he thought they would。 I would say the piece where he jumps further into the future is the best chapter in the book。 The distr I had read this book in my teens and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread but upon reading it again in my fifties I found it a little underwhelming。 It is a good story but I found myself wandering off a little。 Never the less it is a good story about a Victoria time traveller who finds himself in the far future earth and finds that humanity has not evolved as he thought they would。 I would say the piece where he jumps further into the future is the best chapter in the book。 The distribution of our dying sun filling the sky etc was brilliant。 。。。more

Interesting premise and reflections on how society might evolve in the future。 While Wells certainly deserves credit for popularizing the idea of time travel and his creative approach, the superior attitude of the narrator (Time Traveller) and the undertones of eugenics and misogyny put me off。 Reading this book is, in a sense, also time travel。 We are taken back to 1895 when Wells wrote the story and the prevailing attitudes of that time。 It doesn't make them right, but provides a lens for view Interesting premise and reflections on how society might evolve in the future。 While Wells certainly deserves credit for popularizing the idea of time travel and his creative approach, the superior attitude of the narrator (Time Traveller) and the undertones of eugenics and misogyny put me off。 Reading this book is, in a sense, also time travel。 We are taken back to 1895 when Wells wrote the story and the prevailing attitudes of that time。 It doesn't make them right, but provides a lens for viewing his perspectives。 。。。more

I really underestimated how short this book is, it is basically a short story。 I must say I am not a big fan of sci-fi but Wells has such accessible writing, I was able to glide through this。 There is definitely a great message in this book, which I will not spoil。For a very old sci-fi, it was very dope。
