There were moments of cute and relatabilty in regards to being blocked or stuck。 But the story felt rushed as if it didn't have time for 3-dimensional characters, and the majority of scenes felt contrived and unbelievable。 The idea of 'Blank' (the fictional book) was great and well presented。 The people that filled 'Blank' (the actual story) were flat as chocolate chip pancakes。 There were moments of cute and relatabilty in regards to being blocked or stuck。 But the story felt rushed as if it didn't have time for 3-dimensional characters, and the majority of scenes felt contrived and unbelievable。 The idea of 'Blank' (the fictional book) was great and well presented。 The people that filled 'Blank' (the actual story) were flat as chocolate chip pancakes。 。。。more

I want to spend more time with Pippa。 This is a warm-hearted, hilarious, and provocative read。 Will especially resonate with those in some way involved with the publishing world!

What a fast, fun read! If you are a book lover, someone who can get lost in a bookstore for hours…this love letter to authors and writing is fantastic。 Throw on top of that family drama, scandals, friendship drama, and a whirlwind of crazy things happening, and you have this book。 I loved the message the fictional author, Pippa, was promoting by publishing her very unconventional book, and I sort of wish that something like that would actually shake up the world of publishing a bit and give ever What a fast, fun read! I kept reading, expecting something to improve。 Nope。 All over the place! Plus a super yuck sex scene。 Confused at the super good reviews so far。

This was a satisfying read, even if slightly formulaic or predictable。 The motherhood observations were current and realistic, with relatable characters, and the insightful commentary on the publishing world was probably not far off。

Such a fun, funny, relatable read。 Anyone who has stared at the blinking cursor will gobble this up—but you don't have to be a writer to enjoy! Just a reader of a good fiction! I'm a huge fan of Zibby's podcast Mom's Don't Have Time to Read Books and I loved her memoir Bookends。 So I had high expectations for her first novel。 I'm happy to say I was not disappointed! I was lucky enough to get an ARC and this one was a super quick and easy read。 This book has more plot twists than you think could fit into a book, but it all works。 You will laugh hysterically and also not be able to pick your mouth off the floor at times。

I was lucky to read an advanced copy of this book on net Galley and read it in two nights。 Fun easy read about a character much like the author herself who challenges the premises in the creative yet subjective publishing world。 Characters were well drawn and plot very easy to follow。 Would be a perfect beach read。 Not too heavy and definitely uplifting and fun。 Enjoyed it !

Owens tackles every writers nightmare'--the blank page。 But being Zibby Owens, she does it with aplomb! This is just a terrific novel for anyone who is trying to shake things up, be it in your career or your life--and Pippa, the audacious narrator does both。 Funny, smart, and moving, too。 Love this book。 Owens tackles every writers nightmare'--the blank page。 But being Zibby Owens, she does it with aplomb! BLANK is just what I needed to beat the doldrums of January: a page-turning read with a charming (and funny!) heroine who is delightful company。 Thank you, Pippa, for the perfect weekend escape。 I hope we meet again!

I had the privilege of reading the ARC of this gem。 I laughed my way through it。 Zibby has a way with snark and humor that allows any mother to escape her life for a while。 I highly recommend this one!

Read it in a day— and I’m a slow reader! Don’t miss this funny, twisty LA novel and Pippa, its highly relatable heroine who is balancing life, her kids, her flailing marriage and a looming deadline。 Bonus points—it’s a satirical look at the publishing industry!!!

So much fun。 I couldn’t stop reading。 Smart, funny, real - Zibby pulls you into her world, through the eyes of Pippa, author struggling to complete her next book, but because of circumstances, she draws a blank。 This just read like the best miniseries。 I’d love to watch this, and watch it all unfold。 Again, fun fun fun。 Read this book!

I’m still thinking about this book and its messages。 At its core, it’s an exploration of how a book can succeed in an over-saturated market where “95% of books sell less than 5,000 copies。” This story is clever! Everyone curious about publishing should read Blank and draw their own conclusions。 Although it’s fictional and somewhat satirical, it’s relatable。 It’s also about navigating motherhood, marriage, and friendships! I enjoyed it immensely and I think you will too。

I love Zibby’s writing and her first novel is one of the best books I’ve read。 It gives a peek into the life of a writer/mom who is of course trying to juggle all the family and career balls while in a unfulfilling marriage, and after being betrayed deep into her new book。 It has humor and wit while staying true to her voice and the seriousness of some of the struggles。 I literally could not put it down!

This book checked all the boxes for me! If you identify as a writer Blank by Zibby Owens is a must。 If you aren't a writer, but a book lover, you will find this "peek under the hood" story about writing and the publishing industry just as entertaining as fascinating。The main character Pippa Jones was memorable。 I loved her plucky, self-deprecating, honest, and funny persona and deeply related to her struggles of wrestling with her inner critic who says her ideas for her next book (due in 5 days!
